I went outside after I ate and finished watching the movie out on the front porch, which I showed a picture of yesterday. It is such a beautiful spot, and the weather has been so nice, too.
Then I moved some stuff around the basement so that Gretchen can repair her foundation. I just had to get stuff around from the walls. I had to do the week's laundry so I got that started while I was moving stuff around.
This is the first time that I've used a machine like this, but it isn't too tough. The machine still does all of the work, except the spin cycle. To get the excess water out I had to run it through the rollers. I was taught that the rollers aren't very forgiving when it comes to buttons and snaps and fingers. I'll beware!
So the stuff. There is quite a bit packed around the basement. There is camping stuff and artist stuff. Rain barrels and hand tools. And cob webs. There are a lot of cob webs.
It was kind of tough to make the command decisions about what gets blocked in, so I hope that Gretchen is good with the work. It will be easy enough to adjust the stuff now that it is in the center of the room.
And my mission was accomplished. I got three of the walls cleared, and we are all set up to clear the other. But there is stuff that gets used on those walls, like the Maytag.
It is really interesting seeing how the foundation was made. And I don't know if I'll have a hand in helping to repair the damage that was done over the last 120 years, but I'd like to see that process. Gretchen said you literally take out the stones, dry the area, and put them back with new mortar. I don't know how you keep the dirt from outside from falling in, though.
I've shown you picture of George, but I never got Bodhi on camera. Well I did today when he was in his full cuteness on the rug. As you can see, he is huge.
Yeah, those are fried pickles. |
And then I started watching another movie on the porch. I did have a nice, relaxing day.
