Day 18: Stakin' my turf.

Okay, so today started with Blues supervising me as I prepared the spot where cement will soon live. You know, the tamped down area. But first I had to oil up the wood that will be used as walls on the new fancy preparation room. Then I had to spread out and level the extra dirt that wasn't used. Blues hated that because he likes to, wait for it, dig into the soft sand and sleep. He has a pile of dirt right under my bedroom window. I sat down with him on it one night, and it was so warm. It was like sitting in the arms of mother nature. He is old, so I'm sure those old bones appreciate the hot-water bottle treatment. I know I did.

So I found I out that I have a visceral aversion to oil; I'm not sure why, but it revealed itself as I was treating the 2x4s. I guess it is the same as when creosote is used to preserve wood, but just yuck.

And then it is a matter of putting the steel in the space and filling it with cement. I don't know when the cement part will happen because I'm not done preparing the space yet.

So yesterday there were some dudes that were out putting stakes in the ground around Ezuz. Nobody in the village knows why. So Avi told his kids to go tear them all up. Well who doesn't want to participate in some good ole fashioned vandalism? So I joined in. To any of you who read this; if you just put information out so people don't have to guess you will have a better results with whatever you are doing, even if the whatever is controversial. People just don't wan to be panicked. So we took them all up.

Then I practiced working with watercolors. I will give a lesson on color and watercolors tomorrow, so I wanted to make sure that I had the right materials. The paper is not great, but its will take some abuse.
